Japanese start-up Fuji Dream Airlines has taken delivery of its first aircraft.
Embraer says in a statement Fuji Dream took delivery of its first aircraft, an Embraer 170, during a ceremony in Brazil.
The airline’s general manager airline business, Masatoshi Inuyama, earlier this month told ATI that it would be receiving the aircraft around this time and the E-170 will arrive in Japan on 24 or 25 February.
Fuji Dream is based in Shizuoka city and the new airport there - Mt Fuji Shizuoka Airport - is due to open in June.
Inuyama said Fuji Dream plans to launch in July and will be getting a second E-170 in early June and an Embraer 175 sometime next year.
It has already ordered the two additional aircraft from Embraer, he added.
Fuji Dream’s parent company, Suzuyo Group, is a Japanese conglomerate that started in 1801 and today has several businesses including a logistics company, energy trading, food product and construction business.
