Virgin Blue has taken delivery of its first Embraer E-170 airliner at a ceremony at the Brazilian manufacturer's headquarters at São José dos
Campos.
The Australian low-cost carrier has ordered six E-170s and 14 larger E-190s to spearhead its expansion plans. It will equip the aircraft with 78 and 104 seats, respectively. Brisbane-based Virgin Blue's E-190s will be the first of the type to operate under extended-range twin-engine operations (Etops) rules from the first half of 2008.
