Swiss regional carrier Baboo has operated an Embraer 190 into London City today, becoming the first carrier to use the type at the downtown airport.
The Embraer 190 has just secured certification to conduct the 5.5° steep approach into London City.
Baboo chief executive Jacques Bankir says it selected the type's steep-approach option "from the very beginning" to meet its "express intention" of operating into short-runway airports.
Air Transport Intelligence disclosed last week that Baboo was aiming to perform the first service into London City following certification.

The carrier, which has three 190s, conducted the flight from Geneva. Baboo had previously been using Bombardier Q400s on the route.
British Airways CityFlyer - which already uses Embraer 170s at London City - and Lufthansa CityLine are also in line to begin using the 190 at the airport within a few weeks.
