The football club FC Barcelona has hired a Boeing MD-11 (registration OH-LGG) for its US tour.

The 282 seats aircraft is leased under an Aircraft Crew Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) contract for almost two weeks.

The crew of the FCB private charter flight includes two captains, a co-pilot, two pursers and eight flight attendants.

"The event is rather unique for Finnair, because the wide body aircraft are rarely vacant. There are not many airlines in the world, which can rent out these kinds of aircraft in the middle of the summer. This was possible for Finnair as the company is going through a fleet renewal, where new planes are being received and some of the old ones removed", Leisure Flight's Assistant Manager John Virkkala says.

"The first flight with FC Barcelona is behind us already. The journey from Barcelona to Los Angeles went really well as did the first game, where FC Barcelona beat Los Angeles Galaxy", told the managing purser of the cabin Sami Sieva.

The aircraft will in addition fly to Seattle and San Francisco at the least.
