Garuda Indonesia's plans to link up Indonesia's smaller cities got underway on Friday as it unveiled its new Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft.
The first aircraft, which the flag carrier received on 10 October, will be based in Makassar on the island of Sulawesi. From there, it will fly to cities such as Ternate, Lombok, Kendari and Surabaya.

Garuda will receive two more CRJ1000s in October, one in November and two in December.
The airline has 18 CRJ1000s on order, with options for 18 more.
