A third Mitsubishi Aircraft MRJ regional jet has arrived at the company’s US test facility at Moses Lake.

FTA-2, the company’s second flight test aircraft, departed Nagoya at 09:20 on 14 December, and arrived at Washington's Grant County International Airport at 09:30 on 20 December, says Mitsubishi in a statement.

During its journey it stopped at Guam, the Marshall Islands, Honolulu, and San Jose. Total flight time was 20 hours, covering a distance of 14,000km.

The aircraft joints FTA-1 and FTA-2 at Moses Lake.

Mitsubishi had previously said that FTA-3 will also fly to Moses Lake by the end of 2016, but this depends on “weather and aircraft conditions.”

The company indicates that flight testing is ramping up.

“We are accelerating and conducting flight tests every day, several times on a daily basis if the weather allows,” says the company. “During the holiday season, we plan to conduct the maintenance of aircraft and flight tests except on the Christmas and New Year's holidays.”

Mitsubishi targets a mid-2018 entry into service for its regional jet.
