Taiwan's Aviation Safety Council (ASC) is investigating an incident involving an EVA Air Boeing 747-400 that burst three tyres while landing at Taipei Taoyuan Airport on 2 September.
None of the 281 passengers on board was injured, but the incident closed one of Taoyuan's two runways for more than 12 hours.
The aircraft, registration B-16410, was landing after a flight from Shanghai when it skidded off runway 24 at 21:37hr, says the ASC.
Three of the eight main landing gear tyres on the left side of the aircraft burst, and the aircraft eventually came to a stop on a taxiway, adds the ASC.
Five runway lights and a sign were damaged, and the runway was closed until 10:00hr on 3 September, says Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration.
The ASC has launched an investigation, and has retrieved the aircraft's recorders and conducted interviews with the flight crew.
A team of investigators will meet today to discuss the incident, says the ASC. The council is expected to release a report once investigations are complete.
