A NASA Deep Space Network station in Spain received a signal from Pioneer 10 - which was launched 30 years ago - 22h 6min after a signal was sent from Earth to the spacecraft. Pioneer 10, the first craft to explore Jupiter in 1973, is heading for the star Aldebaran in the constellation of Taurus at a speed of 44,000km/h (27,000 mph), and is due to arrive in two million years.
