NATO moves to introduce standardisation in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems will benefit both users and industry, according to the chairman of the Alliance's NIAG SG/53 working group, Guisseppe Leveque.

He says the group will produce recommendations by next February to standardise the interfaces needed to pass control and surveillance data between UAVs and ground stations.

Some 36 companies from 10 NATO countries are participating in the study.
