Planar Advance, in partnership with dpiX, will unveil full-military specification active-matrix liquid-crystal-displays (AMLCDs) for fast jets and other cockpit applications. The initial product measures 125 x 125mm and has a 480 x 480 pixel colour display. The company says that a 160 x 160mm display is among larger, higher-resolution displays, which will follow. Planar Advance's miniature active-matrix electro-luminescent display (AMEL) for helmet-mounted displays will make its European debut. The initial version is a 180mm monochrome display with a 640 x 480-pixel resolution. It is less than 2mm thick and weighs 4g.
