The Air Traffic Controllers Association (ATAC) of Papua New Guinea (PNG) has withdrawn threatened strike action that would have caused further trouble in the country's skies.

ATAC members went on strike for an hour on 4 September in protest over unpaid meal and other allowances which date back two years.

Controllers have since withdrawn threats of further action following assurances from PNG's Public Service Conciliation and Arbitration Tribunal that it will "sympathise" with their claims.
