PRECISION AIRMOTIVE is to supply Cessna with a new type of electrical control for its general-aviation aircraft following its acquisition of PFT. Cessna has selected PFT's master control unit (MCU) for its Model 172, 192 and 206 piston-singles, now re-entering production.

PFT manufactures electrical components, including generator control-units for turbine-powered aircraft and alternator control-units (ACUs) for piston-powered aircraft. The MCU integrates several electrical components into a single box. These include engine starting, a ground-power receptacle and control, a master relay, a fully integrated ACU and a solid-state current sensor.

The MCU is expected to provide increased reliability, because components are housed in a protective enclosure in the aircraft engine compartment, and to be easier to service and to troubleshoot, Precision says.

The company plans to move the manufacturing and marketing operations which it acquired from PFT to its headquarters in Everett, Washington.
