Airbus has passed a key milestone in single-aisle production with the delivery of the 8,000th A320 family aircraft.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the 8,000th A320 family aircraft to be produced (MSN8000), a Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-powered A320neo (B-1068), was delivered on 1 February to Air China. The aircraft was delivered from Airbus’s Chinese assembly line in Tianjin. This aircraft had flown 10 days earlier on 22 January.
However Airbus’s monthly delivery summary shows that the 8,000th A320 family delivery in fact took place during the last day of January when a total of four A320 family aircraft were delivered to four airlines, including Air India (A320neo leased from CIT), Lion Air/Batik Air (A320), Spirit Airlines (A320) and Virgin America (A321neo leased from GECAS).
The first-ever A320 delivery – a CFM International CFM56-powered A320-100 – was made to Air France in March 1988.
As of 31 January, total A320 family orders stood at 14,135 aircraft. A320 family aircraft are assembled on four lines worldwide – Toulouse and Hamburg in Europe, Mobile in the USA and Tianjin in China.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the majority (36%) of the 8,000 deliveries have been made to operators in the Asia-Pacific region.
