European certification authorities have approved a derated version of the Airbus A350-900, with a 12% take-off thrust reduction.
The ‘75k’ version of the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 powerplant has been newly included in the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s type certificate for the -900.
It features a derate to 74,200lb (330kN) for take-off and 66,600lb for maximum continuous thrust.
Singapore Airlines had previously stated that it would launch a lower-weight, derated version of the -900.
The airline had taken delivery of 32 A350-900s by the end of February, from a total of 67 on order. These deliveries have included the long-range A350-900ULR variant.
EASA’s revised certificate also features a new weight variant for the -900, designated WV016, which has a maximum take-off weight of 278t.
