ATR chief executive Stefano Bortoli has disclosed deals covering 23 more aircraft to take the turboprop manufacturer's order commitment tally at the Paris air show to 75.
In addition to a follow-on order for one ATR 42-600 from Colombian carrier EasyFly, Bortoli says it has received "a further 22 orders for ATR 72s in the last week" from undisclosed customers.
These follow the letter of intent for 35 turboprops, spanning both ATR 42-600 and 72-600 models, from lessor NAC – which expects to firm the commitment within a couple of weeks – and the 17 commitments secured for the new short take-off and landing variant of the ATR 42-600 it aims to launch by year-end. Those commitments include 10 aircraft for launch customer Elix Aviation Capital, two for Air Tahiti and five for undisclosed customers.
Given the Paris tally of 75, ATR says means it is "well on track" to meet its 2019 targets
Bortoli adds: "The decisions of two important lessors [NAC and Elix] demonstrates they have long-term confidence in the project. ATR is very much alive and kicking."
