Russia's federal air transport authority Rosaviatsia has signed an agreement with the European Aviation Safety Agency centred on airworthiness regulation.
The agreement is intended partly to support export of Russian-built aircraft to overseas markets.
Rosaviatsia says the signature means its European counterpart "confirmed the recognition of changes" that have taken place since an overhaul of the Russian regulatory framework transferred aircraft certification authority away from the Interstate Aviation Committee.
This transfer, which took place in 2015, has been a controversial matter within the Russian regulatory structure.
Rosaviatsia says the document signed with EASA is "aimed at creating formalised rules" for co-operation between the two sides in aviation equipment certification, and lead to "mutual familiarisation" of certification systems.
