With reference to your article I was most impressed that the opportunities for prop jets was so well articulated. While there are clear markets for regional jets as right-sizing capacity and thinner city-pairs, too much emphasis has been placed on moving toward regional jets.

The economic realities have often been displaced in the race to refleet with regional jets versus a market competitive and more lucrative prop jet. What has become clear is that products such as the Bombardier Q400 exceed the capacity of many regional jets.

Hopefully the industry, in its resurgence will carefully evaluate its competitive position along fleet planning lines and consider prop jets.
