The article "Call for law to protect ATC staff from safety-related prosecution" (Flight International, 20-26 January) says: "Eurocontrol and the European Commission have agreed on the need for legislation in EC member states to protect air traffic controllers from prosecution following safety-related incidents."

If it succeeds, this development will neutralise one of the greatest dangers to flight safety, which is the unprotected incident reporting problem. My only question for the EC is: what about aircrew?
