Proteus Airlines, the fast-growing French carrier which is a launch customer for the Fairchild Dornier 328JET, has confirmed its commitment for 10 options on the 70-seat 728JET. It is also "positioned" on the yet-to-be-launched 90-seat version.

The decision to move to larger aircraft is part of the airline's strategy to double in size within three years. President Franklin Devreux, expects 1998 turnover to be around Fr315 million ($52 million), a tenfold increase on the 1995 figure.

The first of the airline's six 328JETs is due for delivery in the second quarter of next year, with three more aircraft set to arrive during the year. It now operates five Raytheon Beech 1900Cs, 10 1900Ds (plus four more on order) and eight 328 turboprops.
