An American Blimp A-60+ lightship has completed what is believed to be the first extended offshore airship flight in more than 40 years. The airship flew 1,700km (920nm) from North Perry, Florida, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, in about 35h, including overnight stops. The airship, one of the 13 A-60+ blimps in service, is expected to remain on advertising assignments in Puerto Rico until June. Ten of the fleet are with the Lightship Group, a partnership between the UK's Virgin Lightships and Lightship America, a subsidiary of the ABC news network.
