Starring for TEAC Aerospace (Hall 3, Stand 17B, US Pavilion) at Farnborough 2004 is the US airborne recorder and moving-map manufacturer's MDR-80 digital solid-state mission data recorder.

The subject of recent contracts from the Bulgarian air force and Irish Air Corps, MDR-80 has been ordered for training and combat applications by more than 15 air forces worldwide.

Advantages claimed by Californian-based TEAC include high reliability and video resolution, and a flexible range of 70 different Internet-ready configurations based on commercial off-the-shelf modules.

The Irish and Bulgarian deals cover units for Pilatus PC-9 turboprop trainers, plus TEAC's mission data debriefing software (MDDS), to replace videotape recorders and facilitate the introduction of PC-based post-flight pilot debriefings.

MDR-80 is designed to record, store, download and share video and digital data from combat and training missions for use by front-line commanders and training officers.
