The recognition of non-native speakers of American-English is currently a topic of research for TNO Human Factors, based in the Netherlands.

Direct Voice Input (DVI), as an interface between pilot and cockpit, is a realistic feature of present and future airplanes. DVI can substantially reduce the pilot's workload, but ¡ here's the problem ¡ it requires optimal operational performances with an utterance recognition rate of more than 98%.
