A 79.5 per cent increase in Qantas' first-half net profit to A$128.7 million (US$95.2 million) should boost the chances for its planned A$1.6 billion flotation later this year, despite an uncertain equity market. Qantas says its alliance with British Airways produced numerous benefits worth around A$24 million.
