Qantas Airways is to launch thrice-weekly services to Chicago early in 2003 while increasing services to Los Angeles. Chicago flights will be operated from Melbourne via Los Angeles from 31 March. Boeing 747-400ERs will be used on the route. The new schedule will also include three additional services each week between Sydney and Los Angeles. With the new schedule Qantas will be operating 33 weekly services between Australia and Los Angeles.
