Qatar Airways has become the first airline in the world to acquire comprehensive aircraft recovery equipment for the Airbus A380.
The ResQtec R2S Maxx will enable the airline to recover equipment parts from any non-operational aircraft following a serious incident at Doha International airport.
Qatar Airways's $3.2 million investment also enables the flag carrier to join the International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP).
The airline says it comprehensively tested the equipment in an exercise carried out jointly with Qatar Aviation Services and Doha International airport, with supervision from Qatar's civil aviation authority.
