Initial test flights of the BAE Systems Australia ALR-2002A radar warning receiver have been completed aboard a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) General Dynamics F-111 bomber.

The unit is being developed by BAE under an Australian Department of Defence contract.

The trials were conducted against a range of emitter types, including the Raytheon APG-63 radar, used in Boeing F/A-18A/B Hornets, and the Blindfire battery radar of the Australian Army's Matra BAe Dynamics Rapier surface-to-air missile.

The ALR-2002B variant is being offered for the RAAF's F/A-18 Hornet upgrade, and the ALR-2002D for the army's SikorskyS-70A Black Hawk helicopters.
