The Siemens Plessey Systems AR327 Commander tactical long-range air defence radar has successfully completed factory acceptance trials at the manufacturer's test site at Cowes, Isle of Wight. Rigorous practical tests to assess transportability by air and land will now go ahead.
Latest electronic technology allows the AR237 to produce three dimensional air pictures and provide interception control facilities in the extremes of temperature that its worldwide role demands. It also allows networking into national command and control facilities.
