The UK Royal Air Force has accepted into service two upgraded Type 92 (FPS-117) long-range solid state air defence radars, following the completion of a modernisation programme conducted by Lockheed Martin. The work will extend operations of the radars - which are located at remote sites in Scotland - until at least 2010, with options in place to extend their service lives further to 2020.
