Essco enjoys a predominant role as the prime supplier of sandwich radomes around the world, but international sales manager Michael O'Connell says the company's first appearance at Dubai, under the umbrella of the Irish Trade Board, will help it consolidate this position in a growing market which offers significant opportunity.

The company's radomes are used extensively with the AN/FPS 117, the AN/TPS 70, and monopulse SSR systems, as well as on NEXRAD, Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR), ARSR-4 (Mode S monopulse SSR), and North Warning.

Essco says standard sizes, which currently range from 6.7m (22ft) to 29.7m (97ft) in diameter, are most cost-effective for one-of-a-kind applications. New tooling may be more cost effective for larger production programmes or special requirements.
