The UK Royal Air Force is to restart Open Skies arms control flights over Russia next year, but budget cuts mean that it will share a Saab 340 with Sweden and Germany, refitted with a Leica 150mm panoramic optical camera. The aircraft will be based at Linköping and operated by the Swedish air force. Flights will start in May after certification trials at Nordholz in Germany in April. A Russian Tupolev Tu-154 will also be at the trials, replacing an Antonov An-30 that does not have the range to overfly the USA.
