A Boeing 777 will be converted for executive VIP use by Raytheon Systems as part of a $130 million contract. This is the first such modification of the 777.

The award also includes work on design, engineering and installation of the interiors of 11 Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) and the Waco, Texas based division of Raytheon is confidently expecting two further BBJ orders later this week.

The 777 contract is believed to be for a Middle Eastern customer, but Raytheon is remaining tight lipped.

The aircraft will be delivered to Raytheon in November and delivered to the customer in September 2000.

Boeing has also announced orders for a further six BBJs bringing the total to 35. The 737-based aircraft had its first flight just under a week ago, with delivery expected before the end of this year.
