Raytheon has received its largest ever business jet order from fractional ownership monolith Executive Jet for its NetJets programmes in the USA, Europe and the Middle East.

The deal, for the purchase of up to 100 Hawker Horizon super mid-size aircraft, matches Executive Jet's contract with Cessna last October for 100 Citation Sovereign mid-size business jets.

The $2 billion contract with Raytheon involves an order for 50 Horizons and options for a further 50, plus technical support. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery to the Woodbridge, New Jersey-based company in 2002. Raytheon is already a large supplier of aircraft to the NetJets programme.

Executive Jet continues to surge ahead of its rivals. In the past three years, the company has ordered 587 business aircraft for programmes across the globe, 461 of which remain to be delivered.

"These orders account for almost 40% of the world's business aircraft fleet and have a value of $9.7 billion," says Executive Jet.
