Rolls-Royce has completed certification flight testing of the latest variant of the RB.211, the RB.211-524G/ H-T. R-R expects that the Federal Aviation Administration will certificate the engine on the Boeing 747-400 during January 1998. The G/H-T uses the high-pressure module from the Trent 700. This provides a 2% fuel-consumption improvement, says R-R.
