BAE Systems has completed the first flight of a Harrier GR7 re-engined with the Rolls-Royce Pegasus 107 engine for the UK Royal Air Force. The 107 produces an extra 3,000lb-thrust (13.4kN) above 30°C (86°F) and increases the Harrier's maximum take-off weight by 910kg (2,000lb) to 15,500kg. R-R is to upgrade 40 Pegasus 105s to 107 standard and BAE will supply the modification kits. Together the contracts are worth £150 million ($234 million).
