SAAB'S UPGRADED SK60 trainer was flown for the first time on 6 October, powered by two Willams-Rolls FJ44-1Cs. The Swedish air force is to receive 115 of the modified aircraft between 1996 and 1998. Saab is upgrading the first ten, with the bulk of the work to be implemented at the air force's Ljungbyhed site. Saab had initially intended to fly the aircraft in August, but problems marrying the engine to the airframe led to a two-month delay.
