UK tour operator MyTravel Group, previously called Airtours, has begun repainting its fleet into its new brand identity MyTravel Airways. The move has involved the consolidation of UK airline arm Airtours International with Scandinavian Premiair into a single fleet. The entire fleet comprises more than 50 aircraft, with 20 additional Airbus A320/A321s on order for both UK and Scandinavian operations to replace aircraft with leases that will expire by 2004.

Airbus chief executive Guillaume Faury admits that the airframer was not expecting to be negotiating an acquisition of key aircraft programmes from beleaguered US firm Spirit AeroSystems, but insists it is necessary and that Airbus is ready to absorb them.
