Rohde & Schwarz has just launched its EU 4200C VHF receiver for civil and military air traffic control and has a growing order book already. The model is the smallest in the series 4200 range but offers all the features and characteristics of its bigger brothers. The smaller profile means that four radios can be added to a standard 19in rack. Important functions are software-based, which makes it easier to add new features and build customer-specific configurations.

The Rohde & Schwarz radios have exceptionally large signal characteristics, thanks to their tight filtering. Last Resort Radio – an independent emergency radio provider at Brussels airport - has ordered a total of 47 of the 4200s. The emergency radio system will be installed next to the airport’s main radio system.
The Swedish Air Force is also equipping itself with the 4200 series for military air traffic control. The Swedish defence material administration (FMV) has placed an order for about 90 transmitters and 90 receivers as well as 56 Series 4400 transceivers.
