A Boeing 777-300ER powered by the GE90-115B has completed the longest engine-out demonstration flight ever in support of extended-range twin-engine operations (ETOPS) certification.

The aircraft flew an unprecedented 5h and 50min with one of its two engines shut down as part of an ETOPS demonstration in mid-October.

"We are extremely pleased by the way the GE90-115B is performing in flight testing," says Chaker Chahrour, general manager for the GE90 project.

The Boeing ETOPS test flight was part of a 13h flight from Seattle to Taipei. Currently, the longest allowable ETOPS flight is 207min.
