The Sukhoi Su-30MK roars off in a practice run for today's flying display amid US reports that sales of Sukhoi aircraft to China and Vietnam has put Russia in top position in the world defence market (see page 16). Sukhoi has a major presence at the show with the first showing of the Su-37 outside of Russia. The 37 is the newly-numbered version of the Su-27M, believed to be the closest to operational configuration featuring thrust-vectoring, a glass cockpit and digital flight control systems. The aircraft, number 711, can be seen on static display.
