Interiors refurbishment specialist Regent Aerospace will expand operations by opening new facilities in Mobile, Alabama, the company announced on 26 February.
The Valencia, California-based firm will first employ 90 people to perform aircraft interior refurbishment through 2012. That workforce will double during Phase 2 of the company's plan, when Regent opens a larger facility at the Brookley Industrial Complex.
Regent selected Mobile partly because the planned facility will be located next to ST Aerospace Mobile, a major provider based in Singapore for maintenance, repair and overhaul services. .
"Both Regent and ST Aerospace Mobile have mutual customers and the synergy resulting in both companies being in Mobile will benefit these customers considerably," says Mike Lilley, vice president and general manager of Regent.
The site is part of a growing aerospace cluster in the Mobile area.
"Having a specialized aircraft interiors company in Mobile should attract even more airlines carriers who are considering having maintenance performed here," Lilley says.
