The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has completed windtunnel testing of its Micro-X reusable second-stage space access vehicle. The work is being carried out to support studies of operationally responsive, reusable military launch vehicles that can complete several launch/payload deliveries and return cycles in a short period of time. The tests evaluated how changes to tail size, height and angle affect flight stability. Additional trials will include supersonic and hypersonic aerodynamic and hypersonic aeroheating testing.
