CAP Aviation is awaiting certification of its CAP10C after initial flight testing of the re-winged aerobatic trainer, which flew for the first time in early March at Apex International's facility at Dijon, France.

"We have already booked 10 reserved positions," says CAP Aviation president Dominique Roland. He adds: "We're ready to produce the aircraft at 20 units a year, but we have to wait for the DGAC [French certification authority] to certify the aircraft. We're also waiting for certification of the CAP222 [tandem two-seater] which we hope will be in May."

The main improvement to the CAP10C is increased area ailerons with 25í of deflection up and down to give a better roll rate. The carbon-fibre composite/wood wing remains the same. "It is very much appreciated by our customers," says Roland. An improved landing gear has also been introduced, designed for easier fabrication and greater shock absorption.

The wing is being offered as a retrofit option to owners of the CAP10B - production of which was terminated two years ago. Roland says the CAP10C will sell for Fr900,000 ($120,000) and the wing for Fr200,000.
