Australian regional carrier Regional Express (Rex) has received its first Saab 340B+. It already operates a fleet of 31 Saab 340A/Bs, and the latest aircraft is the first of 25 340B+s the airline has agreed to lease from Saab Aircraft Leasing. The airline says it will receive one 340B+ every five weeks for the remainder of 2007. Rex is Australia's largest independently owned regional carrier and on 30 May it disclosed that its net profit for the nine-month period ending 31 March had increased 52% to A$17 million ($14 million), from A$11 million for the same period a year earlier.
