A familiar Middle Eastern visitor to the Royal International Air Tattoo, the Royal Air Force of Oman is back again with one of its BAC One-Eleven transports on static display.
Oman still operates three of the British-produced type, which Flight’s MiliCAS database says were delivered in 1974-5. The aircraft on display this weekend also attended the show in 2007.

The Omani air force’s transport operations are set for a lift from mid-2012, with the nation having signed a contract last month to acquire one stretched-fuselage C-130J-30 from Lockheed Martin. As the service currently flies three legacy C-130Hs, industry sources believe it could request more new Hercules in the future.
