Boeing-led Sea Launch successfully launched the XM Radio communications satellite Rock aboard a Zenit 3SL booster from the Odyssey offshore platform in the equatorial mid-Pacific Ocean on 18 March. The 4,700 kg (1,300lb) Rock, based on a Boeing Satellite Systems 702 spacecraft bus, will be located at 85íW in geostationary orbit to provide 100 channels of digital audio programming to US subscribers. The second satellite, Roll, will be launched in May by another Zenit 3SL.
