The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded Rockwell Collins (Hall 4, F13) an $8.6 million contract to supply VHF/UHF Talon radios for the BAE SYSTEMS Harrier ground attack aircraft.
This latest order brings the total value of anti-jamming Talon radios supplied to the MOD to $24 million. The radio is fitted to a range of British aircraft in addition to the Harrier including the BAE systems Nimrod Maritime Patrol aircraft and Boeing's Chinook helicopter and E3D AWACS.
The Rockwell Collins Talon radio provides normal and secure two-way voice and data communications over the 30 to 400 MHz frequency ranges.
The system can be configured with multiple Electronic Counter Countermeasures (ECCM) options including the Second-generation Anti-jam Tactical UHF Radio for NATO (SATURN) and other waveforms.
