Rockwell's Avionics and Communications is to assemble and test two major components of the Collins Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System in China. This follows a co-production agreement with China National Aero-Technology International Supply Corporation.

The agreement signed at the show calls for Leihua Electronic Technology Research Institute in Wuxi to deliver transmitter and beam steering modules for the Collins TCAS II system. The agreement extends through the year 2000, with a renewal option.

Clay Jones, executive vice-president of Rockwell's Avionics and Communications, says: "TCAS is one of the most complex and technically sophisticated avionics systems we produce.

The modules to be produced and tested in China will be used in TCAS systems we deliver to our worldwide market."
