Rolls-Royce has appointed Warren East to be its new chief executive, with the impending retirement of John Rishton.
East served as chief executive of semi-conductor firm ARM Holdings from 2001 to 2013, and has been a non-executive director of R-R since January 2014, says the engine maker in a statement.
“Warren has an outstanding record as CEO of ARM Holdings,” says R-R chairman Ian Davis. “He is an engineer by training; he has a deep understanding of technology and of developing long-term partnerships. He has proven strategic and leadership skills in a global business and a strong record of value creation.”
Rishton has served as chief executive of Rolls-Royce since April 2011, when he succeeded Sir John Rose. His retirement is effective on 2 July.
