The prototype of the upgraded two-seat Mikoyan MIG-21UB Mongol of the Romanian air force had its first flight on 9 May. The prototype flew for 30min. The upgrade is being implemented by Israel's Elbit and the Romanian company Aerostar. The delivery of the upgraded MIG-21 MF's to the air force will before the end of the year. The first, one-seat prototype has so far performed 30 test flights.
