The British Telecom, BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin consortium bidding for the privatised Skynet 5 military communications satellite system contract from the UK Ministry of Defence has been named Rosetta.

The Skynet 5 contract, potentially worth $2 billion over 15 years, will be awarded in May 2002. The other bidder is the Paradigm consortium, involving Astrium, Logica, Nortel, Motorola, TRW, Serco, System Engineering - and BAE Systems. The winner will be named in November 2001.
